Show Round

If you would like to arrange a show round at the nursery please email the office.  These are only offered on Wednesday mornings so that we have as minimal disruption for our children as possible.  We only invite one family to each show round so that we can answer all your questions individually.

We encourage all parents to come for a show round at the nursery before sending in a registration form.  This gives you a chance to meet us, see our facilities and learn more about our ethos.

Facilities

The Woodentops Day Nursery is situated in a beautiful Grade II listed Victorian villa built in 1850 and designed by Thomas Cubitt. It is located in a residential area and it provides a warm, friendly and inviting place for children to discover, learn and grow in confidence. A safe and stimulating environment, combined with high expectations of the children from our well qualified and dedicated staff, result in a positive learning journey for all the children.

During the day the children have direct access to a large play area for their outside activities and their sports lessons. The children also have a small allotment for digging and growing vegetables.  Specific indoor and outdoor areas have been created for both the baby class and toddler class.

Our experienced, well qualified and loving staff will greet your child each day. A keyworker will be allocated to your child when they start at the day nursery and will monitor your child’s progress and overall development. The keyworker will also be responsible for keeping the parent informed of the child’s daily routine, which will also be recorded in an individual diary.

To ensure parents are fully informed about all the events and kept up to date with the activities at the day nursery, a newsletter will be e-mailed to parents weekly.

Babies from 6 months will have their own sleeping room and dedicated area for the development of crawling and walking. There is also a large, airy room for toddlers with a conservatory attached for messy play. A stimulating and varied curriculum provides an exciting learning environment for these children. Music, sports and yoga are provided within the fees and taught by specialist teachers.

Pre-school children from the age of 2 ½ will have the opportunity to attend Woodentops Kindergarten during term time. This forms part of the children’s curriculum and gives the children their first experience of a more  formal education for up to 15 hours per week.

Fees

We have tried to keep the fee structure as simple as possible for parents.  We charge a flat rate regardless of days of the week or the age of your child. All our children receive the same dedicated care and attention.

Our rate for 2020/21 is £88 per full day and £56 per half day.

A half day is either a morning session 8am-1pm or an afternoon session 1-6pm.

We offer a 5% sibling discount, which also applies to siblings attending The White House Preparatory School.

We are open 8:00am-6:00pm weekdays and for 50 weeks a year.  We are closed for all bank holidays and for ten working days during the year. Usually 5 around the Easter break and 5 at Christmas. Holiday dates are provided to parents at the start of each year.

Settling In

We offer two settling in sessions free of charge.  These usually take place in the week prior to your child starting with us.

The first session lasts two hours from 9:30-11:30.  You will be in the room with the team, your child and the other children.  This is really just to get your child introduced to the new faces, the room and the buzz of nursery.  During this time we also ask you to spend time reviewing our policies and procedures.

The second session, is from 9:30- 12.30 and includes lunch.  For this session we suggest you are in the room for around 20 minutes and then step out.  This gives your child the chance to bond with the staff in the room and get stuck into an activity before we give them their lunch.

Some parents feel they (or their child) may need longer to settle in and will build up sessions gradually for the first month.  We may also advise you that your child will need longer to settle.  We suggest that your child’s first full day at nursery is not your first full day back at work and that you allow additional time to ensure you are both feeling happy and secure coming to nursery.

Around a week before you start you will receive your ‘All about me’ pack.  This is all of the information you need to complete before your child starts. It covers your emergency contact details, your child’s medical information and includes all of our consent forms.  It is also your chance to tell us in detail about your child, their likes and dislikes, routine and any other information that will help us ensure they feel as settled and secure as quickly as possible.
